A Table Full of Memories
Yay! It’s Friday, and I’m MORE than ready for the weekend! I hope you’ve had a terrific week.
And ladies, not only is it Friday, but it’s Joyful Friday here at A Cup for the Next Chapter!
So, let’s think back over the last seven days. What were the moments of joy you experienced? Keep in mind, this doesn’t have to be an earth-shaking event!
I’m talking about those times when you felt a sense of peace and happiness.
One of my joyful moments this week took me back to a special place from my childhood.
Last Saturday night, my husband and I met my brother and his wife, along with my sister and her boyfriend, at an Italian-American restaurant about twenty minutes from my hometown.

This wasn’t just any restaurant. It was a place my family went to when we were kids. In fact, my siblings and I hadn’t been there together since way before our parents passed away.
Those good ol’ days and all the great times we had at this particular place brought back so many memories.
Our dad was the one who made going out for pizza a lot more fun! Let me explain.
This restaurant had paper placemats featuring all of the United States Presidents at every place setting.
When we were kids, my dad used those placemats to play trivia with us while we waited for our pizza to arrive at the table.
His first and only rule of the game? We had to turn over our placemats so there was no cheating! Then the questions began!!
Let me tell you, ladies, history was never my favorite subject, but for some reason, I loved this homemade trivia game! And my dad played that game with us every time we visited the restaurant.
Before we knew it, that hot, bubbly pizza was on our plates, and another one of Dad’s history games was in the books!
Ah, if only I had a magic crystal ball I could look into and see us sitting at that table playing trivia with our dad. He was the BEST! ❤
Well, ladies, guess what?
That restaurant still has presidential placemats on the tables! Of course, the design has been updated over the years to include the current president, but the print itself is still the same.
My husband and I have been back to this restaurant many times over the years. It’s one of our favorites!
But being there that Saturday night with my brother and sister made it feel a little different.
As we sat around the table together, those childhood memories of going there with our parents came rushing back. I could picture our dad turning those placemats over and getting ready to quiz us on our presidential history.
Oh, how I wish we could go back and have one more of those evenings with him!
That night, I was happy to be out with my siblings, laughing and sharing stories. But I also felt a sense of peace and contentment. It was one of those moments when you wish you could freeze time and just stay right there a little longer.
And in my heart, I felt that our parents were with us, sharing that moment, too.
That feeling stayed with me long after we left the restaurant, and it was one of my joyful moments from this past week.
Thank you for being here and allowing me to share my joyful moment with you.
Now it’s your turn! What was one little moment of joy you experienced this week? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
I wish you a blessed weekend with your loved ones.
