Oh, the Fun I Can Have At IKEA!

Happy Tuesday, ladies! We are in for another glorious fall day here. 🍂

As I look out my window and see all of the leaves scattered all over the yard, I think to myself, geez, didn’t we just spend hours this past weekend raking? Oh, right, my back still aches!! 🤣

But the scenery this time of year is absolutely breathtaking, and I’m so blessed to be here to take it all in.

Okay, on to today’s post. I have a confession to make…if my husband were to drop me off at an IKEA store and come back three hours later to pick me up, chances are I would probably be only halfway through the store!!!

Yes, I love that place! Thankfully, we don’t live anywhere near an IKEA store…well, thankfully for my husband, that is!

A few weeks back, my husband and I went on a quick trip to visit my in-laws. As we started our journey back home, he thought it would be fun to take a different route!

Well, my friends, FUN it was! As he was driving, I, of course, was looking up any places of interest that we could stop at.

After a few minutes of online research, I spotted a store with my favorite combination of letters…IKEA!

Now, ladies, my husband is totally aware of how much I enjoy looking around in that one-of-a-kind place! Little did he know that I would spot one in the area we were going to be driving through.

When I told him about what I discovered, he had a little bit of excitement in his voice as he said, “Oh, let’s go!”

Have you ever been to an IKEA store before? They sell just about anything you can ever imagine for the home. It’s a great place to find affordable furnishings for college dorms and first-time apartments.

I often think that IKEA is perfect for discovering those hidden gems that you didn’t even know you needed!!

So, we got to the IKEA store, and I was so thrilled that I had my walking shoes on!

I’ve only been in a few IKEA stores in my lifetime, and I’ve always read about the delicious Swedish meatballs they serve in their café.

Yes, ladies, IKEA has a café!!! How clever of them to have a cafeteria-style place to grab a bite to eat while I shop! And, of course, my husband was more than happy to come along for the food! 😂

So, I told my husband we just had to try them to see what the hype was all about.

Our verdict? We were glad we tried them, but we probably wouldn’t get them again. So, in our opinion, the Swedish meatballs weren’t anything to write home about!

Before we stopped in the café, we were looking at the kitchens. Well, because I hadn’t looked through ALL of the kitchens, we had to go back to that area!

This is where I landed some really outstanding deals. Or, at least, I thought they were!

I found a package of trivets for hot dishes because, well, you can never have enough trivets…now, isn’t that right, ladies?

They had individual dishwasher- and microwave-safe dinnerware for $1.00 each. Right away, my mind went to the basic plates and bowls that I had stacked on a shelf in my kitchen. I definitely could use some more essential dinner plates and cereal bowls, so I carefully placed six of each in my cart.

A few steps away from that display were large basic serving bowls staring at me! So, it was a no-brainer that two of those bowls would have a place in my cart next to the plates and cereal bowls.

The last thing I want to share with you from my IKEA haul is the cutest glass juice carafe! Was it just your basic juice holder? Um, yes…but apparently, I have a thing for water pitchers and carafes, too! 🤣

My husband and I continued through just about every room in the store until I looked at him and noticed that he had a smile on his face. I soon realized it was because we were in eyesight of the EXIT!

It was such a fun day together at IKEA! And although I don’t think my husband would ever admit it, I think he enjoyed himself, too! 😂

When we were walking around in and out of the kitchens, at one point, I turned around to see where he was, and he said, “Chelle, dinner is ready!”

He was pretending he was making dinner for us! He was standing over an oven with a soup kettle and holding a big ladle, acting like he was tasting the delicious meal he had made!

That put a big smile on my face because he knew how much I was enjoying myself, and I could see how much he was playing along! ❤

I cannot remember how many steps we took that afternoon, but I know it was over 10,000! The reason? Our feet were very tired!

So, if you’re ever out and about and spot an IKEA store along your travels, I have a few tips for you.

First, please make sure you have comfortable shoes on. 👟

And..make sure to give yourself plenty of time because it’s quite an experience!

Thanks so much for being here, ladies! I hope you have a great day!
