The Fashion Detail That Makes a Big Difference for Me

Hi ladies, how’s everyone today? We had our first frost overnight, so I couldn’t wait for my dark roast to stop brewing! Did the temps drop down in your neck of the woods last night?

Today on the blog, I’m going to share my favorite neckline. It might sound like a silly thing to some of you, but until a few years ago, I didn’t even realize that was something I should pay attention to when getting dressed.

Here is the question I brought up in last Wednesday’s post, Let’s Talk Fashion! Have you ever been in your favorite store’s fitting room, trying on a blouse or top, only to find yourself staring into the mirror wondering why in the world it doesn’t look good?

Well, if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that sometimes a simple fashion detail can make a big difference in how an outfit looks and, more importantly, how I feel in it.

For me, that little detail is the neckline. My absolute favorite neckline is the V-neck. I love this style because I feel like it makes me look a bit taller and slimmer. Gosh, now who doesn’t want that? LOL

The V-neck is very figure-flattering and works with many different body shapes. It’s also a great choice if you have a beautiful necklace you want to show off! Just sayin’…

Now, does this mean that I ONLY have V-neck tops in my closet? Absolutely not! I do tend to stay clear of turtlenecks though… that is NOT a good look on me!

But other than that, if I spot something I like, I will try it on. I just never know with my fluctuating menopause figure, it may look great on me or be completely frumpy looking! Frustrating? You bet! But that’s all okay with me!

So, the next time you’re standing in that darn fitting room, trying on a top and wondering why you don’t like the way it looks, take a peek at the neckline. It might just be the reason!

And since it seems that fashion is going to be the topic of discussion here on Wednesdays, I thought I’d show you a few of my favorite items from my own closet.

The first picture above is actually a denim jacket, but I love the neckline with the Peter Pan-like collar that opens up. The second picture is a jersey fabric, which, by the way, is extremely comfortable! This top has more of a deep V-neckline, but not too deep! LOL
