Menopause Monday ~ Things I’m Learning to Let Go of at 60

Hi ladies, we’re off to a brand new week…the last one for October 2026! I hope your weekend was a fun one!

Turning 60 has made me stop and think about how many things I worry about! And you know what? Some of them just aren’t worth my time or energy anymore.

I’d like to share a few of these things with you. Maybe you’ll recognize some of them in your own life, too.

So, pour yourself a cup of coffee and let’s chat! ☕

First up for me…a spotless home! If you asked any member of my family what I stress most about when I know we are having guests over, they most definitely would say the house!

A great example of this is my in-laws. If I knew that they were coming for a visit, I would spend literally hours going through each and every room in my house. I’d be so tired on the day they arrived because I had been up for so long making sure everything would pass the “white glove” test!

For what? Looking back on all those times, I was miserable! Everything had to look perfect!! Again, for what?

I knew, deep down, that they loved me. But did I want them to accept me more as a daughter-in-law? I would probably answer yes! But wasn’t I already good enough?

And honestly, why was I putting so much pressure on myself? I mean, after all, I married their son, not the entire family! Yep, I know the ‘ol saying!!! 😂

The menu too! That was part 2 of my stress! What would I make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the visit? Again, I was trying wayyyy too hard to impress them!!!

I have learned to let go of this unnecessary stress and worry in my life. I don’t want to live in a “glass house,” but instead, a clean, warm, and welcoming one!

I’m not saying I won’t spend a few minutes making sure the bathroom is clean or the family room looks presentable. But gone are the days that Chelle Noelle will spend hours cleaning for that “white glove” test!!!

My second thing that I am learning to let go of at this prime age of 60 🤣 is the darn number on the scale!! And no, ladies, I’m not talking about the food scale here! 😂

I used to stress over that, especially when I was dieting! Ah, dieting, that’s another blog post for another day! lol

Why did I have it in my head that I had to be a certain weight? God only knows! Did I really expect it to make me a happier person? Crazy, Chelle!! I don’t even remember reaching that number because it wasn’t a healthy one for my height!

Again, why the unnecessary stress? As long as I feel good about myself and am healthy, why did I worry about a stupid goal? I’m not on this earth to impress anyone. I am who I am! Like it, or not!! 😜

The last thing I’m learning is that I’m allowed to take time for myself. And NOT feel the guilt.

This has been a long time coming, but I’m just starting to do things for me!

For example, I started this blog! There are days when I’ll be working on it and start thinking about something else I SHOULD be doing. As I’m typing this post, I look out to a yard full of leaves, again!

There will always be something to do, especially around the house.

But you know what? I’m allowed to have this time to myself now! Wow, I cannot even believe I just wrote those words!

I’m 60, and I certainly don’t have everything figured out! I’m still learning and discovering new things about myself every single day. And you know what? I think that’s okay!

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post. This next chapter is about us ladies! We’ve spent years and years taking care of everyone else. It’s our turn now! 💛

Take care and I’ll talk to you tomorrow!

~Chelle Noelle~
